Syndicate of Anonymous Farmers 1

This second article will serve as a quick update on the introduction and tutorial section of Lonely's Fightclub 2.0, something that was close to nonexistent in previous versions. I've been working hard these past few days on developing the layout, visuals and hammer logic, yet I'm nowhere near done with this.

Located in the nastiest district of the city, this turf is home to the Syndicate of Anonymous Farmers, the faction responsible for the husbandry of antlion larvae - the production and distribution of adrenochrome across the land, as well as growing the last remaining crops in the region.
The apartment complex they occupy has collapsed on itself from years of moisture and neglect, and nature has reclaimed most of it. Vines have grown over the wall mounted lamps, resulting in rooms being permanently covered in a green hue.

For the protagonist dude to enter the Fight Club, he must get to the rooftop by any means necessary and battle the Gardener, who is an agent and recruiter acting on behalf of the Fight Club. On their way to the top however, one must get through the hordes of farmers and low tier pawns.

As for the layout of the place, verticality was taken into consideration and made integral to the level design. Visible in some of the pictures is just one of the rooms that the player has to traverse from the ground up. It involves the player going through previously visited areas but on different elevations. Three floors of crumbling ceilings and vegetation, filled to the brim with angry low-class druggies and farmers who will stop at nothing to end you for invading their main turf.

Scattered around the place are a few physics based boxing bags that the player can land hits on to get used to the combat, primarily dodging, dash attacks and combos. These mechanics are introduced to the player firstly with a sheet of paper briefly explaining them, and then put to practice with the boxing bags and a few easy enemies.

I'll make another update post when I got more content to show. So far I need to finish the layout and implement the enemies in this area, which would be regular people armed with whatever they can find including wooden planks, hammers, all kinds of regular melee weapons. The main gardener, the dude on the rooftop, will need a new model eventually and perfected animations.
